NDIS FAQS
Frequently asked questions
General
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian government program that provides support and services to individuals with significant and permanent disabilities. Its primary goal is to help people with disabilities achieve their goals, enhance their independence, and improve their overall quality of life.
Changing NDIS providers is usually a simple process. If you are not satisfied with your current provider, or your needs have changed, you have the right to choose a provider that better suits your goals and preferences. Review your service agreement, provide any required notice period, and arrange support with your new provider. If you are self-managed or plan-managed, you generally have flexibility in selecting providers. At Guide Right Support Services, we can help make the transition smooth and stress-free.
Yes, transport funding may be available through the NDIS if your disability makes it difficult for you to use public transport independently. Transport funding can help participants travel to work, education, appointments, community activities, and other supports related to their NDIS goals. The type and amount of funding available will depend on your individual circumstances and NDIS plan.
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a type of NDIS support that helps people with disability live as independently as possible while receiving assistance with everyday tasks. SIL can include support with personal care, cooking, cleaning, medication management, household activities, and building daily living skills. Support is typically provided in a shared living arrangement or an individual housing setting, depending on a participant's needs and goals.
The NDIS can provide a wide range of supports for people living with autism, depending on their individual needs and goals. These may include assistance with social skills development, community participation, communication supports, capacity-building programs, therapy services, daily living support, employment preparation, and assistance with increasing independence. Supports are tailored to each participant and designed to help them achieve their personal goals and improve their quality of life.
